Coos County Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization.
Coos County Habitat works in partnership with the local community to eliminate substandard housing through our Homeownership and Critical Home Repair programs. Our programs are a hand-up, not a hand out – our partner families invest hundreds of hours of “sweat equity” into new home construction builds; critical home repair recipients also invest “sweat equity.” Families selected for our Homeownership or Critical Home Repair programs pay back affordable, zero percent interest loans. This hand-up not only helps our families, but the community as well – empty lots become affordable homes, existing housing stock is preserved, and homeowners’ property taxes help to support our local schools and government.
